چکیده

abstract in order to evaluate chemical control of bermudagrass (cynodon dactylon (l.) pers.) on mixture turf: (lolium perenne 20%,poa pratensis.20%,festuca arundinacea 20% and festuca rubra commutata 40%), an experiment was conducted during 2006 in tehran, using randomized complete block design with 4 replications and 11 treatments. treatments were diclpfop methyl at 900 and 1080 g a.i. ha-1, fenoxaprop-p-ethyl at 60 and 75 g a.i. ha-1, clodinafop propargyl at 48 and 64 g a.i. ha-1, tralkoxydim at 250 and 300 g a.i. ha-1, sulfusulfuron at 18.9 and 24.5 g a.i. ha-1 and untreated control. all treatments were repeated 4 times during the growth period of bermudagrass. the results showed that bermudagrass's biomass decreased by fenoxaprop-p-ethyl, clodinafop propargyl and tralkoxydim, 20-30, 40-50 and 45-55 percent, respectively. bermudagrass's density decreased by mentioned treatments, 20-25, 35-40, 5-10 percent, respectively. bemudagrass's biomass decreased by diclofop methyl treratments, 15-25 percent, respectively, but bermudagrass's density did not decrease with mentioned treatments. bermudagrass's biomass and density did not decrese by sulfosulfuron treatments. turgrass damaged by diclofop methyl and clodinafop methyl treatments more than 20 percent (biomass and visual rating). the other treatments did not damage turfgrass and did not decrease turfgrass biomass. at the end, despite of having low efficacy, fenoxaprop-p-ethyl at 60 g a.i. ha-1 (without significant differences between both doses) is recommended for bermudagrass’s control in mixture turf with mentioned mixtures, because of no damaging turf.

Herbicides control annual winter weeds in bermudagrass turf

Weeds are commonly found in bermudagrass turf during the winter and early spring throughout the Southeastern United States whether this turf is used for lawns, parks, athletic fields or golf courses. Mild winter temperatures favor rapid growth of these annuals. When bermudagrass goes dormant in the fall after the first killing frost, it does not compete with germinating winter weeds. Bermudagra...

Formulation and Adjuvant Effects on Uptake and Translocation of Clethodim in Bermudagrass (Cynodon dactylon)

The effect of formulation and adjuvants on absorption and translocation of C-clethodim was determined at 1, 4, 12, 24, 48, and 72 h after treatment (HAT) in bermudagrass under greenhouse conditions. Absorption of C-clethodim with the 0.12 kg L (15 to 85%) formulation was higher than with the 0.24 kg L (5 to 40%) formulation, regardless of presence or absence of adjuvant. There was considerable ...

Sensitivity of Triploid Hybrid Bermudagrass Cultivars and Common Bermudagrass to Postemergence Herbicides

The potential weediness of hybrid bermudagrass cultivars in nontarget areas is an important factor when considering the development of herbicide-resistant cultivars. Field studies evaluated the response of common bermudagrass, hexaploid hybrid ‘Tifton-10’, and two triploid hybrid bermudagrass cultivars (‘TifEagle’ and ‘TifSport’) to clethodim, fluazifop-p, glufosinate, glyphosate, and quizalofo...

Effects of Cadmium Exposure on Growth and Metabolic Profile of Bermudagrass [Cynodon dactylon (L.) Pers.]

Metabolic responses to cadmium (Cd) may be associated with variations in Cd tolerance in plants. The objectives of this study were to examine changes in metabolic profiles in bermudagrass in response to Cd stress and to identify predominant metabolites associated with differential Cd tolerance using gas chromatography-mass spectrometry. Two genotypes of bermudagrass with contrasting Cd toleranc...

Contrasting Changes Caused by Drought and Submergence Stresses in Bermudagrass (Cynodon dactylon)

In this study, we investigated the mechanisms by which bermudagrass withstands the drought and submergence stresses through physiological, proteomic and metabolomic approaches. The results showed that significant physiological changes were observed after drought treatment, while only slight changes after submergence treatment, including compatible solute contents, ROS levels and antioxidant enz...

Analysis of Natural Variation in Bermudagrass (Cynodon dactylon) Reveals Physiological Responses Underlying Drought Tolerance

Bermudagrass (Cynodon dactylon) is a widely used warm-season turfgrass and one of the most drought tolerant species. Dissecting the natural variation in drought tolerance and physiological responses will bring us powerful basis and novel insight for plant breeding. In the present study, we evaluated the natural variation of drought tolerance among nine bermudagrass varieties by measuring physio...
